Dragon Ball Z is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akira Toryiama. It was originally serialised in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1984 to 1995. Later the 519 individual chapters were published into 42 volumes. Dragon Ball Z was insipired by the Chinese novel Journey to the West. The series follows the adventures of the protagonist Goku from his childhood through his adulthood as he trains in martial arts and explores the world in search of the seven mystical orbs known as the Dragon Balls, which can summon a wish granting dragon.

Since its release, Dragon Ball Z has become one of the most successful mangas and anime series of all time. The 42 volumes of the manga have sold over 152 million copies worldwide. Reviewers have praised the art, characterisation, and humour of the Dragon Ball Z story. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest manga series ever made. At its core, Dragon Ball Z maintains the central tenets of the Weekly Shonen Philosophy of friendship, struggle and victory. As the series shifts from a heart warming story into a more action oriented piece, the protagonists go through an unending circle of fighting, winning, losing and improving.

The Dragon Ball Z characters continue this cycle by using miraculous devices to achieve life after death and continue to learn lessons as they defeat their enemies. The series also follows the idea that people can better themselves and achieve their goals by constantly challenging themselves to become ever the best.

Wanting to break away from Western influences common in other series, Akira Toriyama loosely modeled Dragon Ball Z on the classic Chinese story The Journey to the West. He also redeveloped one of his earlier manga series. In the early stages of the Dragon Ball Z series, Goku and Picolo were from Earth. With the introduction of Kami, the idea of having fights from other planets wa established and the two Dragon Ball Z characters were changed to alien species.

Dragon Ball is one of the best Japanese series ever produced. And the great quality of this series best explains the success that Dragon Ball has always had. Dragon Ball was written by Akira Toryyama and it originally aired starting with 1986. Well, Dragon Ball Z began airing when this first series ended, as a squeal. Dragon Ball Z originally aired between 1989 and 1995, in Japan. Although the first episodes of Dragon Ball Z were released years ago, you can still watch this amazing show on DVDs and plan a wonderful weekend in with your friends.

So, Dragon Ball Z is the second of the Dragon Ball animated series. Dragon Ball Z premiered in Japan on April 26, 1989. The show was aired by Fuji Television and it included 291 episodes. In fact, the final episode of Dragon Ball Z aired on January 31, 1996. The series was so much appreciated by fans, all around the country, that there is no wonder after all that it aired for more than 6 years. Dragon Ball Z was later on released in English. For the English language edition of Dragon Ball Z, producers actually decided to sign a collaboration with Saban Entertainment, to make sure that the series will be properly promoted and distributed. In the USA, Dragon Ball Z premiered when the series actually stopped airing in Japan. So, the US premiere of Dragon Ball Z took place on September 13, 1996. At first, the series met some difficulties and the lack of audience made producers cancel it after only two seasons.

In August 1998, Dragon Ball Z began airing on Cartoon Network. With a new audience, the series registered a huge success and this is the main reason why producers continued to create new episodes. However, the Japanese edition of the series was slightly changed, to be adapted for the American public. Soon, Dragon Ball Z became a full USA production, created for the American viewers. And the series continued to air on Cartoon Network with a great success, gaining more fans all around the United States, and not only.

Dragon Ball Z is one of the longest running anime shows to have ever existed and is the sequel to Dragon Ball. It was produced by Toei Animation and was created from the last 26 episodes of the original Dragon Ball. It first debuted on television in Japan in April of 1989 and run for a grand total of 291 full episodes, not concluding until December of 1996.

The anime first premiered in the United States after its conclusion in Japan in 1996. Unfortunately, it was canceled after just two seasons. These two seasons comprised of 53 episodes and these 53 episodes have been recurring on the Cartoon Network ever since. It was during this time that the show gained popularity and the full series began to air, but with Cartoon Network’s own dubbing and voice. These episodes aired from September of 1999 until April of 2003. These episodes had also aired in Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Australia, and New Zealand, becoming an international sensation.

In June of 2009, all episodes of Dragon Ball Z were being re-released in a seven-volume set. This contrasted with Japan’s previously released two-volume set. This set included additional features including a restoration of each frame. The first set was released in November of 2009, the second in February of 2010, and the third on May of 2010. The last four volumes are scheduled for release later throughout this year and 2011.

Goku is what you might call not quite human however it is always difficult to tell when somebody is an animated character. To look at him he look just like one of the many other Japanese animations that have come out in recent years however as the story evolves we find out that Goku is actually an alien from another planet and not only that but he is one of the most destructive races of people in the universe. Fighting is in his blood and in the days of his youth he was kept indoors out of the moonlight so that he would not turn into the more primate evil person that he would have been back on his home planet. Being one of the royal families he is actually very powerful though he does not know this until later in the story. The first few episodes of the Dragon Ball Z story start out harmless enough with people fighting against each other in tournaments. Later other aliens start to arrive and can easily win the competitions against the other humans until Goku comes to save the day.

Later in the series you go back in time to when Goku and his helpful friends are actually only children however in the original series the TV animation goes for so long that the characters all have children themselves. Some of the kids are the answer to the next generation of Dragon Ball Z fighters however being children they do not know this yet. Two of the kids can actually morph together to become one powerful person however this takes many years of training because the kids do not want to fight the evil monsters from other planets. The key to the series are the actual Dragon Balls which if found all together can grant the holders a wish. Normally the characters have to ask for the world to be saved because they are in desperate trouble against the aliens. This series is a great Japanese animation to get into even though it is now about 30 years old.

Dragon Ball Z started out as a very peaceful story with Goku the star of the comic series training himself for fitness and strength the way the ancient people used to. Goku was not one of your usual humans but was actually from another planet, a planet that the gods lived on which gave him certain powers. As a boy Goku had to have his tale chopped off because this was the source of his angry power so now his full potential as a warrior was diminished until some of his friends reveal the story of his childhood and then unleash his ultimate fighting power.

A Japanese Manga film is about Goku and his tricky mates looking for the 7 magical dragon balls which will give them one wish which is to destroy the bad guys before they devour the world. By traveling on a magic cloud over the lands and running very fast these little adventurers find the right number of dragon balls and then save the world from it impending doom. The start out by training for some martial arts competitions where they end up finding out that the bad guys that are winning are really bad and that somebody has to stop them.

If you like most of the Japanese animations which most people have grown up with one or two over the years then you will most likely like the Dragon Ball Z series as well as the movies and following series. There is a great deal of violence in the series that have the fights in them including some characters that die which is unusual for cartoon characters to die. There is a heaven however which means that the characters are not gone for long but even so if you are letting you young kids watch this program then you is likely to have them ask about death and fighting.
