The anime first premiered in the United States after its conclusion in Japan in 1996. Unfortunately, it was canceled after just two seasons. These two seasons comprised of 53 episodes and these 53 episodes have been recurring on the Cartoon Network ever since. It was during this time that the show gained popularity and the full series began to air, but with Cartoon Network’s own dubbing and voice. These episodes aired from September of 1999 until April of 2003. These episodes had also aired in Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Australia, and New Zealand, becoming an international sensation.

In June of 2009, all episodes of Dragon Ball Z were being re-released in a seven-volume set. This contrasted with Japan’s previously released two-volume set. This set included additional features including a restoration of each frame. The first set was released in November of 2009, the second in February of 2010, and the third on May of 2010. The last four volumes are scheduled for release later throughout this year and 2011.

Later in the series you go back in time to when Goku and his helpful friends are actually only children however in the original series the TV animation goes for so long that the characters all have children themselves. Some of the kids are the answer to the next generation of Dragon Ball Z fighters however being children they do not know this yet. Two of the kids can actually morph together to become one powerful person however this takes many years of training because the kids do not want to fight the evil monsters from other planets. The key to the series are the actual Dragon Balls which if found all together can grant the holders a wish. Normally the characters have to ask for the world to be saved because they are in desperate trouble against the aliens. This series is a great Japanese animation to get into even though it is now about 30 years old.

A Japanese Manga film is about Goku and his tricky mates looking for the 7 magical dragon balls which will give them one wish which is to destroy the bad guys before they devour the world. By traveling on a magic cloud over the lands and running very fast these little adventurers find the right number of dragon balls and then save the world from it impending doom. The start out by training for some martial arts competitions where they end up finding out that the bad guys that are winning are really bad and that somebody has to stop them.

If you like most of the Japanese animations which most people have grown up with one or two over the years then you will most likely like the Dragon Ball Z series as well as the movies and following series. There is a great deal of violence in the series that have the fights in them including some characters that die which is unusual for cartoon characters to die. There is a heaven however which means that the characters are not gone for long but even so if you are letting you young kids watch this program then you is likely to have them ask about death and fighting.

This series of TV shows and the films are all very violent which is to say that they are not really designed for smaller children and are more suited to teens or adults. Not only is there always constant fighting but there is also blood spilt and characters dying. Like all of the Japanese animated movies you can take the good with the bad because many of the Manga movies and series are either graphic and contain violence as well as sex. The Dragon Ball Z series is definitely one of the best of all of the animated shows coming from Japan which has managed to keep its audience entertained for nearly two decades. The movies and merchandise are getting harder to find today because the original Dragon Ball Z started around 25 years ago or more. Today the latest movies can be found in the DVD stores or rental clubs otherwise if you would like to see some or more of the Dragon Ball Z animations you can download them from specific websites.

As the characters powers increase we see that they become ridiculously over powerful, enough to potentially destroy the whole planet. One of the attack moves the spirit bomb is one that nearly kills the user so that he can knock down his enemy. There are many different characters in this series which all play a different role as the events of the series unfold. Excitement is around every corner as monsters and bad guys come out to start trouble so that Goku and his friends have to save the day.

The fan base is so big for this cartoon that it has its own video games as well as other toys are artifacts to market the cartoon. The kids still love them even though Dragon Ball Z is nearly a decade old or more which says something about the quality of the movie. Once you have seen the first episode you will want to watch more and more until you too become a big fan of this Japanese animation.

Piccolo – Piccolo first meets Goku, the main protagonist of the story, when he was at a martial arts match. The two fought for a very long time, and Goku seemed to be the victor near the end. It is then when Piccolo revealed that his weighted armor was slowing him down and increasing his strength and agility by a large amount.

Mr. Popo – The funny Mr. Popo is really an immortal genie who tends to Kami’s lookout. He is obligated to be a caretaker to the grounds so high up in the sky. He is often thought to represent a “black faced” character and racist character.

Vegita – Vegita is a Saiyan prince and nobility who destroys planets as a training method. His character as well as another Saiyan that he was traveling with were thought to be the only Saiyans left alive after their home planet was destroyed. He is surprised to find that Goku is also a Saiyan and that his powers are great.

Trunks – Trunks is a time traveler from a troubled future. His character is anachronistic existence because he is in the past with his father and mother before they are together. He comes back in time to prevent the destruction of earth by the evil genetic project Cell.

The young Goku will eventually marry and have his own sons and they too will become strong martial artists. Goku eventually dies and makes his way to the afterlife where he makes his way out of the afterlife by winning martial arts tournaments. He them comes back to teach everyone about what happens to you after you were once gone and will continue to get more powerful as time goes on. He is known to save the world plenty of times and the series is still going strong. You can be sure to see more of the wacky antics after DragonballZ and into the DragonballGT saga. There are several great things about this series and it has been known to be a very long run series at times!

So, what is the basic premise of Dragon Ball Z? The main character in the Dragon Ball Z series is Goku. A martial arts expert takes Goku under his wing and raises him as his own grandson. During the course of the series, Goku meets a girl named Bulma. Together, the duo go on a journey to retrieve the seven Dragon Balls. These seven Dragon Balls are mythical objects that can summon a dragon. Once the dragon is summoned, it can grant any wish that is desired.

When Goku gets a little older, he meets Raditz, who is his older brother. Later in the series, Goku actually dies. While this may seem like a surprising plot twist for someone who isn’t familiar with anime or manga, Goku’s death actually isn’t the end of the series. In fact, after training in a different world while he is dead, Goku eventually returns to the regular world.

As you can see, the story of Dragon Ball Z is quite exciting and filled with a lot of twists and turns, which is exactly why it has turned into such a global phenomenon.
